Phiture, 15 Sandals, and 12 Thoughts of Dreams

There have been some discussions on the microtonal list about an isomorphic keyboard I have, the AXiS 49 (pictured above as I played it) and it reminded me I had not played it in a while. So I improvised 3 pieces on it in “selfless mode” recording directly in Pianoteq 3.6 using modified settings of a concert grand.

These are a bit aggressive, especially the microtonal pieces.

phiture (as in “creature”) is an improvisation in Jake’s modified 12th root of Phi tuning. (scala file below)

15 Sandals is in 15 edo (15 notes per octave which is an interesting tuning – scala file below)

12 Thoughts of Dreams is in plain ole 12 equal – I had not tried 12 equal in self-less mode before so I thought I’d give it a go. For symmetry (and the uninitiated) the 12 equal scala file is below.

I thought phiture, 15 Sandals, 12 Thoughts on Dreams were fantastic. I love the melodies, textures, and use of techniques in all. Really enjoyed the tone clusters in 12 Thoughts on Dreams too! Thanks for posting!

    Peace,
