DIY Aeolian Harp – Version 2 (short demo)

Version 2 (short 3 minute demo) of my DIY Long String Aeolian Harp was recorded during the start of a storm. I hope to capture some strong harmonic excursions as the storm and the gusts strengthen. If you make the picture of the rig bigger you can see that I’ve re-purposed a Goodwill purchased knitting (I think) frame to pressure mounting two cheap piezo guitar pickups and a terminus for several excursions of light nylon rope and fishing line from 50 to 10 pound. Since this was recorded in a storm you can clearly hear the rain drops and sleet. Also, if you listen carefully you can hear an ambulance (by sympathetic resonance), me walking across the deck (direct), the metallic clang of me locking a fence gate (direct), me playing the lines by plucking (direct) and some nice builds of harmonics by the wind.

More to come.
