The Rebirth of Mothra (14 edo piano)

Monday, October 27th, 2014

The Rebirth of Mothra is a 14 edo piano solo. I have to admit that playing 14 on a 12 keyboard is a bit of a confusing mental map -the off set by a whole step I find harder to handle that larger tunings that bear a most distant relationship. There was some editing of the midi file prior to this presentation. As for the Japanese film reference…. imagination connects the improbable.

In Cold Hell, in Thicket

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

In Cold Hell, in Thicket is a microtonal musical setting of Charles Olsen reading his poem in 1950 as provided by PennSound. The orchestration is choir in 14 edo, hang drums in 7, 14, and 21 edo, and percussion. Each iteration of hang drum used the same score so the result is a polytuned interpretation of the hang drum score.
