Ancient Stardust (Wurschmidt[13])

A picture I took at the Smithsonian Institute – one of my bucket list destinations. The mineral and fossil collection there is incredible. The text below explains all.

This is a piano improvisation called Ancient Stardust in a tuning, Wurschmidt[13] Jake Feivald developed for me to try. I really enjoyed the experience of exploring this tuning and I hope that you hear that as well.

Hi Jake, I softened the responsibility for the tuning as requested. Thanks for the positive comment on the piece – this tuning is worthy of quite a few revisits.

Chris, just to make it clear, I didn’t invent this tuning so much as prepare it for you: Anyone could temper out the Wurschmidt comma and get similar results. And if that’s all I have to do to make you write such nice pieces, I’ll have to keep doing it. 🙂
