An Interpretation of The Bells of Dordrecht Cathedral, Netherlands

An Interpretation of The Bells of Dordrecht Cathedral, Netherlands is an experiment in re-composition. I used Melodyne Single Track Editor to extract a midi of the bells in question by analyzing the audio of the video posted on YouTube (thanks to William Lynch for finding this – click the photo above to hear the original) – I then used the extracted midi to drive a modified present of Absynth 5 Spectral Expansion in the tuning Native Instruments calls “harmonic”. So two aspects of the original remain. 1. the general pitch outline and 2. the rhythm of the bell peals which is intact. Juhani Nuorvala found this reference to “Change Ringing” which is what we think is used in the video.
